Our History – 360 Royal Canadian Sea Cadet Corps Erratic

The 360 Royal Canadian Sea Cadet Corps (RCSCC) Erratic was established in January 2016 to serve youth ages 12 to 18 in Okotoks, High River, and the surrounding Foothills County area.

The corps takes its name from the famous Okotoks Erratic, also known as Big Rock — a massive glacial boulder located just outside Okotoks. This well-known local landmark is a reminder of the region’s natural history and provides a meaningful connection between the corps and the community it serves.

As part of the Royal Canadian Sea Cadet program, RCSCC Erratic provides young people with opportunities to develop leadership, teamwork, confidence, and citizenship. Through weekly training and special activities, cadets explore naval traditions, seamanship, physical fitness, community service, and personal development while building friendships and learning valuable life skills.

Since its establishment, the corps has been committed to providing a positive and supportive environment where young people can challenge themselves, discover new interests, and develop the skills needed to become responsible, confident leaders.

Supported by dedicated adult volunteers, families, and community partners, RCSCC Erratic continues to build strong connections throughout the Foothills region. The corps' move to Red Deer Lake Community Hall in Foothills County represents an exciting new chapter, providing additional space for parade nights, training, and corps activities while expanding opportunities to welcome new cadets from the surrounding communities.

Today, 360 RCSCC Erratic remains committed to its mission of helping young people reach their full potential through leadership, discipline, teamwork, and service. Proud of its local roots and naval heritage, the corps looks forward to continuing to grow and serve the youth of the Foothills for years to come.

Rooted in our community. Inspired by naval tradition. Building tomorrow's leaders.
